  fall (almost!) in new england
Something about September and New England makes us happy and ready for fall. We drove up to Massachusetts last weekend to attend a wedding in Sturbridge, home of Old Sturbridge Village. Perfect weather, aside from the unfortunate T-storm that hit 5 minutes before the ceremony! Still- great wedding, great food, and great drink (even if I did have to have a loooong conversation with the stupid bartender in lieu of fetching my stupid ID left (with all my stuff, duh!) in my room. What is it with MA and identifying underage drinking? I thought it was just boston, but noooo...)

Here we are at Hyland Orchard/Brewery/Ice cream & snack shack/petting zoo/picnic area/farm market... we got there before the beer place opened, so visited the animals!

More animals to be found at Old Sturbridge Village, which seemed like a smaller version of Colonial Williamsburg. Different time period though (not sure which- history isn't my strong suit!) We saw a bunch of "how people lived" stuff, which wasn't super exciting at the time. There was a carding mill containing gigantic carders- easily millions of tines there! There were yarn ladies natural dyeing, but they weren't seeming keen to talk to us...more interested in packing up to go home, even though it wasn't the end of the day yet and we'd paid 16 bucks. hmph.

anyhow, cozy sheep:

Also visited much yarn: Mt Laurel and Knit Witts. Mt. Laurel was close to town, and nice and cute... they also have pottery. A lot of novelty/baby yarn for my taste, but also had lots of other fun stuff. I got some Austermann Step, which has Aloe and Jojoba oil in it for the first forty or so washes, to keep my toes moisturized! Knit Witts was several miles out of town, down some smallish forested streets. PRetty location, and on a lake (though she didn't seem to want us to check out the lake- private property! poor husband and friend couldn't do much, but sat on the dock at least) It's a nice, spacious shop, though the room you come into has shelves pretty close together. I got some superwash lorna's worsted, and it is all gone now! Lovely rainbow hats for the show. I didn't have the heart to tell the woman that I paint my own darn sock yarn (when she was trying to sell me koigu) but I did tell her I could spin stuff pretty close to the overpriced colinette.

Wedding was great... much alcohol after I just started sending my husband for refills. Didn't get hungover, but wasn't feeling super social for sunday's brunch, so muddled through it. Sunday we drove towards Boston and K8. Spent the afternoon lolling about, looked at a yarn shop, drank coffee, tried not to fall asleep, knit, ate yummy food, debated how a lendrum seems so much smoother but still has WAY smaller bobbins than my louet.

Parts of the shop are disappearing for craft fairs. Other parts will be coming soon! In the future: more updates and more fun stuff! Some new prints I've been playing with:
