  settling in!
So we made it to the flip side! We moved in to our condo over the weekend... so much cleaning and shuffling and cleaning some more! We are thrilled mostly! There are a few minor things cropping up, but that's just part of being homeowners I think.

They spent the weekend filling the ginormous pool out back - we have a perfect view! I can't wait for it to open!

Phone service is hopefully arriving today, along with DSL we are hoping. (Please?!) We had a heck of a time getting it... I will just say that Earthlink bites. There's totally a reason it's $15 less than the competition (Verizon)... I got to the point with customer service people that I just could. not. deal. So I stopped it. Anyhow, they couldn't seem to find a DSL signal or something, in spite of the previous owners HAVING EARTHLINK DSL. ??? I was boggled. And confused when they tried to keep me buy upselling me to direct TV. ??? Yeah, I bet *that* would work if you can't seem to find our phone or DSL stuff... Whatever. I hope Verizon is competent in setting it up at least. I didn't buy a single one of their multiple "insurance" policies. Really- they will insure the phone line in your house! ??? The one that costs like $1 to buy? Wha?

I have a feeling I will miss my beloved RCN. They were expensive, but awesome. Fast customer service, no crazy accents, no odd pauses and constant questioning. I so wish they offered cable modems at the new place. I would gladly forego an evening out a month to keep them at this point!

oh! Running! I ran last Tuesday's track workout - 2 miles (including warmup/cool down) and this week I ran 2.5 I think. No idea how long it was (watch was misplaced in the move..) but man it felt so good! Run run run! I am so happy that it is easier this time around. Like my legs remember running! I hope to join my other running club at the university track thursday after work since I'll probably be missing out on the next couple weekends of long runs.

Anyhow, who's going to Maryland Sheep and Wool?!? I don't so much need wool, in any shape or form, but I'm shopping for some equipment and for other people. Should be FUN!

Yay!

The phone line thing covers the one that's inside your walls (I think) that's what we pay for. Because if it goes kaput, it gets expensive really fast.

When we moved to this (rental) place, the landlord forgot to mention that the previous tenants had had everything rewired for Cox services (cable company). Everything. So no phone but their digital phone service, no internet but theirs...you get the picture. We're stuck. PacBell (or whatever they call themselves now) charged us $200 for a phone that was never actually hooked up and never actually worked, so we didn't even try to get it rewired for choice. (I refused to pay the bill and filed a complaint with the FCC and ended up not having to, but geez, I could enjoy smacking around the previous tenants for letting Cox wreck the other hookups, well, and other things--who takes the refrigerator crisper drawers? really!?).

Ugh, Earthlink--they make it really hard to cancel and all their popup/spam blocker popups and controls are PITA. At least, in our esperience. So good riddance and yay! homeownership!

Sheep and Wool! Sheep and Wool! I plan to be there on Saturday - hope to see you there. Sorry for the crappy DSL experience you've had!

I'm so glad you've settled into the new condo! I can't wait to see pictures of it :) Good luck with the DSL search.
