  birfday.
still not 30!

I've always hated that my birthday is right next to a holiday. Celebrations always get caught up in fireworks and bbqs, like it's a second thought or something... like, hey, since we're all here, have some cake! Sure, it's nice to have fireworks, and I do love cake! but.. everyone is always at the beach or somewhere fun, and we are... here.

Still, this year has been good and the next year will be better. I am a whole year from the decade of my thirties, when I am sure my life will change and I will finally grow up. Or maybe not? Who knows!

Our big vacation plans for this (early next, actually) year -- Barbados again -- have fallen through most likely. So, we need to find something new! We're aiming for winter, so maybe something tropical. Hmmm. Costa Rica? Mexico? A cruise might be neat, though I am not sure of big boats, or the areas they tend to drop you off in (tourist traps!)..

Our little vacation plans (not so little, but somewhat free, aside from gas) will be a week in Michigan (near the pinky finger area) - family has a cabin up there on a river that's quite floatable on inner tubes. Also, there's excellent cherry pie I hear. And we are promised that the shower will be operational by then! Heh. I am mostly looking forward to floating down a river with beer in a cooler and getting to know my drop spindles better. (not at the same time!!)
