  getting stuff done!
ummm.. ok, and starting more stuff. but- using stash and/or handspun, so.. saving money!

I finished (apart from *finishing*) 2.4 pairs of mittens. a matching wee set and hopefully a hat are also coming soon.

I've been inching along on Rogue- I am now getting close to the top of the shoulders I think.

And I've started a sock, following Michelle's basic sock pattern, because I just could not wait another day for this book to get to me.. (thanks monika+andreas!)

I've also been overhauling the website- rephotographing and making sure we have everything for sale in stock (we do!)... what a lot of work though! Hope that this is good enough! I still have a TON of handspun to put up today.. no spinning or fun stuff. :(

  I did it!
EDIT: I was *totally* on TV friday night. Channel 4. Just for a couple seconds, but I was smiling, apparently, while pulling on a dress. Wow!!

found *the* dress. got up at 5:30 am to drive to Towson, wayyyy on the other side of baltimore. To the once a year Filene's basement WEDDING DRESS SALE... a couple hundred of my closest friends all vying for gowns gowns gowns! Any gown will do! It was mad crazy when we got in- empty racks, piles of dresses. But after a while we all realized that the size 8's just were not for us. I picked up the one (I feel like I should name her!) near the start and Jenny (my hero!!) and I carried it around with us the rest of the 1.5 hours it took to decide if there was anything better. there wasn't.. or it was stained or marked. no thanks!

yeah... if anyone watches Baltimore news, I was on probably.. a pervert video guy watching girls get dressed filmed me looking all embarassed. Speaking of which- there were skivvies seen. not even bathing suits/biker shorts. PANTIES! Ew! (there were totally men in the store too- what were they thinking???)

so- here she is, floofy skirt and train and all. needs some adjusting, but I like her!

and a close up:

Now, just need to get a contract with our location!

  little boy blue

279 yards of light worster merino. tad bit more on the bobbin to play with.

legs are starting to hurt from workout # 1 last night. we had to *RUN* bits of it! after a warmup mile, we had to do 15 seconds fast 15 slow all the way round the track, then some odd move involving hopping on a foot sorta, then skipping. then something else we missed cuz we're too darn slow. ugh. using new muscles. Also- am considering running 5 miles saturday in the rockville twilighter. Hm. requires at least a 12 minute mile to not be "left behind"... I can do that... but for 5 miles?

  sallie may kiss mine.
so, um... last week or two? haven't been able to check the old sallie mae loan. odd, since I've always been able to check exactly how much interest is accruing as I take (not quite) lavish european vacations in lieu of paying it off.

I finally call them, and guess what? no longer servicing my loan! Thanks for telling me. Thank god I didn't send another check. Fuckers. Also, call center? Not the USA. Couldn't understand so much the guy was telling me, and he had no idea what I was asking. Way to go Sallie Mae. You suck! Moral of the story? DON'T TAKE OUT LOANS! Note to self: No chance we're affording a house any time soon. Pay that *&$%er off. Now. I don't know who these ACS people are, but as soon as they deign to tell me, I'm paying that puppy off.

In less hostile news... have new ideas, new goals in knitting... want to start finishing stuff! To be organized with my knitting! I just purchased this bookcase from a certain swedish store... and despite not having instructions (and outdated instructions emailed to me later) managed to stick it together with only 6 or 7 important looking metal brackets left over. ??? Anyhow, I'm organizing yarn and fabric and paper and.. and... more stuff! It will be a new me.

So- been knitting a few rows a day on Rogue- maybe 10 rows from where the front and back split! Woo! And finished this for a friend who ordered it... jeez, like a month ago.. but it is SO cute! I do hope it's worth it.. it's for his little goddaughter!

  baseball in washington
what could be better? (a new stadium! real beer in the stands!) I spent a lovely birthday watching the nats kick some mets butt on Tuesday. Puzzled over why the mets fans chose to wear their hats inside out. Hmm. Any idea?

And this weekend, not enough knitting or sewing or anything useful done.. been going nonstop on the wheel. Did this and now have much of a blue and purple merino done. Updating the shop at some point, after I get some soft merino goodness to someone I owe!

  merino

spent the afternoon at kate's yesterday, where we accomplished a lot! Sooo much to spin!

and running - have been doing loads of it... ran 4 miles last saturday, then was lazy all week, ran 1-2 miles tuesday and a mile and a bit at the gym thursday. Saturday we went to a clinic for our running program- did all these goofy exercises that seemed so easy at the time, but now my legs are DYING! then this morning, ran a half mile, had to use the facilities, so walked about another 2 miles back to the car. then went home and ran about 30 minutes- to rock creek, in a bit, and back. was nice. legs are officially dead.

playing around with fiber- knitting and spinning and dyeing. with a bit of running thrown in. and now home hunting.
