  on being broke.
so in the past three months, I've somehow become *responsible*... or broke. Mostly broke. First I had the bright idea of doing this when my loan company sold my loan and didn't really tell me for a couple months...

Haha... looks really good, right? Only.. there are three more loans where this came from. sigh... some day?

Anyhow, moving on.. we had the lovely idea to finally confirm that our wedding will be next June... 10th! So we had to pay the nice people to hold our place. That wasn't sooooo bad.. and a check off the old to-do list. But now we have to think of photography and music and a car to pick us up (from our home *maybe* a quarter mile away?) and... and. so many ands that add up to a lot. and so many friends telling us what we need. Agh! I am not ready for thinking about all this!!

This next one, though? I heart it sooo much, but man it hurts me! It's not even for me and it taunts me... Someone's gonna pay me back, though, so it's only temporary. then I will go back to loving him! (the car, I mean)

the man of the house has a new car! his is 4-door, but there were no good sexy pictures of civics. (yep- we are starting a collection of civic lx's.. woo honda?)

yeah, so this leaves very little money to buy yarn and whatnot.. which is good, cuz man we are stocked. stilllll working on the labeling, then I will hopefully get some shots of the damage we have done.

  city paper
Haha- in case you haven't heard, Woolarina will be appearing at *the* craft event of the year in DC... Woolarina North will even be in attendance for this day of fun!

Check out all the Washington, DC Crafty Bastards on Saturday, the 1st of October. Last year was the first year, and was great even with a little rain. This year will be even better! It'll be at Western Market in Adams Morgan.

Woolarina made it into a color ad in the Washington City Paper. Some lovely yarn! Not sure it's good or bad, but it was on the Savage Love page.. (lots of exposure, I guess?) heh- and above an ad for the pleasure palace or something... ;) so check out the City Paper and view our one inch photo!

  packrat
I feel like such a packrat with all this craft fair stuff. Let me tell you- this fair is going to rock!! We've got enough yarn to outfit an army!

This is my stack of finishing to do this weekend. The small pile of hats on the right and the wine totes are what I've accomplished so far.. I told myself I could start one new thing for every 2 or 3 I finish, so looks like I am good to go on another project or two! Too bad they're all for the craft fair- I'm itching to knit my self something.. anything!!

And here are the hats, in various stages of blocking (in case that helps?!)

I'm also working on loads of wristwarmers- some in silk! ooh-la-la!

And... the yarn. Holy moly, the labeling... I've found more new functions in my old pal Microsoft Word to make loads and loads of labels.

I'm down to needing to label worsted, laceweight, and handspun. and scarf kits. I think? Yes- Crafty Bastards will ROCK! yay yarn!!!

so much yarn and no time to knit!
I started organizing my stash/office/storage room this week. Too many skeins of yarn to count, and definitely not enough time to count more than a cubby full at once. Aiaiai! I need a week off. or a day! Anything!! Maybe I can waste the last few hours of sick leave before they take them away next week?

Spun this last weekend. Merino. lost track of yardage. I'd bet around 200 yds?

This is a couple of the uncountable skeins. mohair and wool. shiny pretty colors that I would love to knit... it'll be up sometime this weekend!

been running loads. legs of jelly. We ran mostly 6 miles Saturday, a bunch tuesday at the track workout, and a couple miles tonight at our local track. There's a 5K race saturday, so we'll see how much I've improved! (geez, I hope I improved... what if I am slower?!) must beat 35 minutes, or I am officially lame!

  so much to finish!
I have an entire paper box filled to the brim with projects not for me that I must finish before october (crafty bastards!)... sewing handles on, felting, weaving ends in. All take about 5 minutes or so, but I keep putting them off. and I keep starting and finding more! Agh! I will *try* to ignore the two books I ust ordered when they arrive..

So what am I doing instead? Knitting socks out of pretty yarn (that's unfortunately not our yarn, which I totally wanna play with already..). This is koigu.

Along with its accompanying scrap of sandpaper, which is necessary because those dpns SUCK! and keep splintering the slightest bit at the tips. Grrr. I thought I'd be all good and buy handmade needles- these are birch. I think I like the bamboo ones better- clover, maybe? They are also much better with the slipping factor.. these, I have to jerk all the stitches about. boo. The first sock is on my Clover 2's, but I'm stuck at the heel on them. Hmph. At least both socks will be finished relatively at the same time, though. no second sock syndrome! ;)

This is perhaps the dorkiest sand toy ever:

However, better than the "future rocket scientist" t-shirts I have seen... and we are going to the beach in a couple weeks! Yay NASA!

  updating
has been sporadic at best, lately. Things are happening a mile a minute, and no time to breath! Vacation (all 1.5 days of it) was lovely... got some kayak love in, and my arms got a great workout. Also, no sunburn, as the sun hid from us, and I hid from it, under the umbrella. Most of all, it's warmed us up for some real beach time at labor day.. several days in the outer banks! yay! just a couple weeks to go...

Yarn... slowly starting a big website update, and considering an upgrade to a real cart thingie.. not sure it's worth it yet, but geez, these updates are tedious by hand! Anyhow, in honor of K8 deserting DC, here's a few pretty skeins of hers now up on the handspun page...

Knitting has been happening- have some wee mittens and hats to show, if I remember pictures! and scarves and handpainted goodness.

Running is going well- did 6 miles a couple weeks back! verrrryyyy slowly. last week we ramped down a little- *only* 4 miles! ;) But we did our first real track workout this tuesday, as the weather and schedule was finally agreeable- an hour and a half of alternately running as fast as I can around the track and struggling to not keel over! Heh- they say to run at things like 60% or 90%.. um? anything I do I feel like I am 100% dying! what's up with that? Tomorrow I'm aiming for 5.5-6, but it's gonna be yucky out..

  swimming in wool.
Not quite as appealing as it sounds, on a Washington August day. But between Kate and I - hand dyed and hand spun yarn and roving, we've managed to fill about 8 of these cubby holes with yarn. plus a plastic box filled with stuff I don't know what to do with. Plus a copy paper box of stuff I can't decide if I should keep or sell..

So, yeah- update on the website soon! Not for another week though- am going to the beach for a couple days to get away and celebrate someone's birthday! (the big 3-0!) Will knit and sew and have some pictures eventually!

  colors!
had the last dye day ever at K8's last Saturday. Man did we have a lot to dye!! I don't want to think about how much was spent.. aiaiai. I'll have to take a picture of how much yarn we actually have once it is skeined and in my apartment.

here's some roving though..

the rainbow is the biggest and the best! It will be navajo plied to keep the pretty colors!!

Also from last weekend... this guy might go up for sale on Etsy some time soon!

playing around with fiber- knitting and spinning and dyeing. with a bit of running thrown in. and now home hunting.
