  happy post thanksgiving!

this is what we ate the day after. sadly, that was all we had left from this years feast! that and some mini pumpkin pies that are (still) sitting in the fridge. (they are NOT the same as the real pie!! year old nilla wafers ain't pie crust, that's for sure! just... don't ask!)

This is what my wheel has looked like for the past week. ready to take on the world! or sit lonely in my living room, being shuffled about while I vacuum. :( I have a pile of fiber sitting next to it, ready to go... if only I had time! I'm also going on a business trip (yay boulder!) so it will be alone a few more days.

This is about all the work I really accomplished this weekend, aside from procuring a suitcase actually large enough to fit some 20 odd hats and scarves and a dozen bags and many skeins. I still need to send or stuff another suitcase with handspun, then I am ready to go!

  gobbledygook
does anyone else get an entire page of this sort of stuff (below) when they look at my page? I get this, then I refresh the page, then it seems fine. ???? No idea why this is. Does anyone have any idea? I imagine something odd happened with the hosting switching, but I think I cleared up the rest of the problems...

  Regenbogen in der Kuche

this lime/green/turquoise is some of the romney/border leicester from this guy... after dyeing the locks and separating them out and running them through the carder a couple of times. they made nice fluffy clouds of wool to spin!

This wool is a handful of lighter colored locks from here. not sure what it is, but I think I'll blend the colors with the brown and see how it goes.

This one comes from this merino corriedale blend. Plied with some leftover orange and pink merino.

Here are some of the products of the last few weekends... top left is some fingering weight, then three worsteds to the right. Bottom left half are handspuns and some dyed mohair roving. then some random matchy yarns, then some brushed mohair.

Finally, some close ups of the worsted and fingering. I think they look much better skeined up. A chore for another day! That is all from the dye kitchen of chez Woolarina for now. the man of the house wanted the counter back. (not that he *uses* counter. for say, cooking, at least.. ;)

  my hands are so dry
It's been yet another dye weekend. this time, I added a foil pan on top of the stove in addition to the trusty crockpot... my stove just doesn't have a good low setting, so I had to turn it off and on again and again each time it started to simmer. Grrr. Also, the dye was not exhausting, so it was there for hours... and more hours! I finally took it out and stuck it in the crockpot overnight. then rinsing and rinsing and squeezing water out and washing. my hands are chapped! I need to slather up. So- tons of color! need to reskein! and label!

I'm starting to panic about bazaar bizarre. I have several suitcases worth of wool and hats and bags and there are just two of us to carry all this! how will we haul it all up there? just the handspun takes up a couple of boxes. There is tons more handpainted! Agh!! maybe we should have driven?

I'm also making tons of little goodies for the show- sachets and cat toys. many many things to stuff and sew up!

  eleventy billion things.
it's been a pretty hectic few weeks around here... first of all, I passed my exam. and got an unexpected raise! woo hoo! I thought I might get a bonus, but this is great!

Also, the knitting... mad mad knitting and dyeing, actually.

thing one: a baby hat. from soft merino singles.

thing two: socktober yarn. I am loving these shades! haha... all the dyes I bought seem to be *electric* colors! yay for brightness! reminds me of the pretty leaves this year!

thing three: more yarn. worsted weight.

thing four: more of the same. yay for orange!

thing five: two skeins of merino handspun

things six and seven: mittens and a scarf. mittens #1 for the mittenalong

thing eight: another mitten. just. can't. stop. the. mittens. this is some superbulky handspun that looked to wierd to sell. turning out great, I think. will be warm!

thing nine: pink and orange merino. this is perhaps the most of one color I have ever spun! I haven't washed it yet, but it's a few hundred bulky yards!

things ten and eleven: two more handspun skeins. I adore the top one! I love the colors! (hence thing three)

thing twelve: scarf kit - forest edition.

things thirteen through sixteen: catnip toys to be.

Off to make another purple mitten and wristwarmers for someone that are about two years late...

  mittening along
I'm actually pretty far along on a mitten, but am too busy dyeing and spinning and knitting a scarf and other such boring things! and the website transfer. Agh! what a nightmare!! too much for this girl. I'm really not that dumb, right? two engineering degrees? You'd think I could get it running... sigh...

this is the handspun I'm using for one set of mittens, as well as a scarf:

I also have about a billion new yarns to get up, as soon as I get the domain transferred and website set up. (how 'bout that holiday next friday?! hope it gets done then...) they are bright and pretty!

Also, we'll be bazaar bizarre-ing! Woo hoo!!! I bet boston in winter will be swell! ;) I will outfit myself in handspun!

playing around with fiber- knitting and spinning and dyeing. with a bit of running thrown in. and now home hunting.
