Woolarina
got yarn?
I went to a great yarny knitty party at
fidget ann's last weekend.. got to swap/unload some yarn (came home with less than I went! yay!!) and meet a bunch of MD/DC/VA bloggers! A whole lot of fun!! I have a picture of the yarn, but my ftp isn't working, and I don't feel like rebooting the machine! maybe tomorrow.. anyhow, it's just a table loaded with... yarn! better pics are out there!
I wove in a bunch of ends on the rosedaleish sweater (again, no foto).. all that is left to do is do up the pits! woo-hoo! It is slightly tightish fitting though.. moreso than expected. not bad tight, but definitely need-a-good-bra tight.
I also dyed a few sock yarns and some new roving this weekend- I'm in the process of taking pictures that don't completely flash out the pink.. no such luck. But- they are almost reskeined, and will be in the
shop soon!
the main (and nearly the coolest!) part of the weekend is the progress we made on wedding invitations. We're printing our own, so we had this big fear of how "handmade" it would look. However, so far so good! These are actually part of thank you cards- the invites will be on white paper. orange ink, though! YAY!!!

turquoise *is* something blue!
Is anyone else participating in
Lolly's Project Spectrum? I can't wait for all the colors! Looking at my current knitting, I am on a turquoise kick. I declare february the month of turquoise!
past the heel and inches from the toe on number one! losing steam quickly! but I like them... I also like the heel. the exact same heel that michelle
talks about. also the same heel that is in my twisted sisters sock workbook. and the one alison has a
great tutorial for. These ARE ALL THE SAME. (as far as I can tell) It took me several ripbacks to get it down pat. Note to self- even if they are all the same, following one person's directions at a time is easiest!

rosedale-ish is nearing completion, though. A few more rows of raglan decreases will bring me to the collar. I got a bit confused at the knitting directions, but they are talking about knitting back and forth, and not in the round. righto. took me a day or two to figure out that!

This is some yarn I dyed for the
shop. It's self-striping thick and thin. I figure it'll make super fun hats and mittens. I'm hoping! I'll post another foto once I finish the hat.

rounding out the month o'turquoise: SHOES! My "something blue" will be new sandals. comfy new sandals that I can walk and dance and stand in for hours at a time! :)
What do you think? The first are more classy, I think. It *is* a wedding, after all. But- the second ones I love too, and they are on sale at zappos.
holy moly! who needs to drive 8 hours to Rhinebeck?
Stitches East 2006 (Nov-2 to Nov-5 in Baltimore, MD)
Anyone ever been to a Stitches?
Anyone wanna come?
why oh why oh why oh
WHY oh why oh why? because because because because goodbye goodbye goodbye...*
I was sorely tempted by
all the lovely socks out there... and since i know I can't knit under any sort of deadline, I didn't start. But now that it's over? And I'm not an
Olympian? bring it on! um.. for the next week... ummm.. couple days, that is.

sigh.
I have other socks to knit. why this? my other socks are purty too, and are both below the heel already. hm.
the sweater- it's progressing. I knit a couple of rows last night. I think that 200+ stitch around projects are a pain. it takes so much longer to see progress! I'm used to cardigans, or things with sleeves that go all the way up and bodies with shoulder shaping. at least this one has no seaming! sorry for the lack of fotoskilz. it's ugly comforter week.

and I played some more with the print gocco. this was part of my first screen... it is awful I think! I traced the printout in pencil, just in case my ink wouldn't work. (see, inks have to have carbon, and not all printers use carbon inks) I'm not very good at tracing.

(I love
that song, btw...)
blogger
is not working right. boo. what blog program do you use? Anything must be better than this!
apples and ink
we have a nice little farmers market at work on thursdays. a great excuse to get out and stretch my legs! This week he had potatoes. in apple sacks!

And.. this weekend... not a whole lot of productive knitting like I'd hoped (what else is there to do in a snow storm?), but.. swatched the self striping yarn from the other day. I am loving it! I'm not sure I'll keep it still (might look great as jaywalkers!), but I definitely will try more of the self striping yarn! chocolate covered raspberries:
Why wasn't I knitting more? Well, it is officially less than 4 months til the wedding! I had a bit of invitation panic. See, I am DIYing it to extremes. Seriously- I am only buying nice cardstock and envelopes. No crazy printer, no kinkos. Just me. and my
gocco!
This was mostly an experiment- also on this screen is a design for business cards, which I will print up this week. Not sure what will happen with these, but I am looking into packaging options.. maybe I can sell them?

future green
Spent a few hours Saturday at the grand opening of
Future Green. What a fun shop! They have all sorts of stuff- clothing, art, housewares, home improvement stuff! All fair trade! I wish I had a house so I could buy some paint! :)

and some woolarina yarn displayed in the window! YAY!

They had a humongo tent set up next door, with all sorts of vendors whose goods they're selling, as well as entertainment. And knitting! Amy and Andreah will be teaching knitting and crochet classes at Future Green starting this month.

Definitely have it going on with the teaching part! This was way more hands on than my little drop spindle demo- I was afraid to let my spindle be dropped by kids.. maybe I should figure out CD spindles or something..
cataloging
The
catalog appears to have worked! It even charged the appropriate shipping! Woo hoo! I have skeined a bunch of yarns, and have a bunch still not on the site that were left from bazaar bizarre, so hopefully this weekend will bring an update!
Come visit me on Saturday!!
I'll be here with a drop spindle or my wheel... anyone wanna come join me? I'll provide the fluff to spin! ;)
