Woolarina
away!
Tomorrow I'll be heading to Philly for
Art Star! Come see me and
Tina Seamonster if you are in town!!
The website is going to be down down down! But don't worry - it will be back! And I will have so much fun new stuff!
busy as a beaver
I spent the long holiday weekend dyeing roving and yarn!

I am preparing for
Art Star Craft Bazaar in Philadelphia next weekend! This is going to be my first two-day show, so I am psyched!
I have been making spinning kits and knitting kits as well - I sure hope I bring enough stuff - I sold out of spinning kits at the Squidfire show earlier this month! It's been nice to use the drop spindle, even if the ones I have are a little clunky. (cheap = clunky, really, and it's still a great way to get started!)
I will also have a few awesome notebooks + bookplates + pins from
goshdarnknit with me, so if anyone's looking for some fun fun moleskine notebooks, come see me in Philly! Saturday 11-7, Sunday 11-5. 1030-40 North 2nd Street & Germantown Ave (Liberties Walk) in North Liberties, Philly!
feeling the burn
Running this season has been slow to start.. I keep getting busy or going out of town, so I have missed a lot of runs. Also... well, I just don't love the people I was running with! Hardly makes a girl want to get up early on a Saturday to run with strangers, huh?
But I am running, even with the group for track workouts Tuesday. And another group for track Thursday. Twice a week is WAY better than the once a week I was managing!
Today I even managed to get myself to run in my neighborhood. Then I got lost, sort of. There's a road with the same name as mine a few blocks away. It IS NOT MINE! It goes in a big, hilly circle! I ran the entire way! Eek! I didn't have my watch with me (hoping it's still in a box somewhere?!), so I was a little dismayed to see that I had *only* run 2.5 miles.
But - there are some crazy hills in my neighborhood, and I ran most of them. There were lots of people out walking or in their yards, and I always feel like I shouldn't be lame and walking when I pass them, so helps me push myself! Heh. Whatever works. I need to bring my camera next time - there are some amazing houses near us! Nothing we'll ever afford, and way big, but amazing still.
So this week: Tuesday 3 miles (run 1.5-2 laps, walk .5), Thursday 2.5 miles (run 1.5-2 laps, walk .5), Saturday 2.5 miles. Whew. My legs are tired! And it was only 8 miles..
tired!
artmart was a blast! Baltimore is so very friendly. My booth seemed empty without so many hats and scarves... I really need more warm-weather things to sell! But it was fun - hung out with some
people I know and met some
new people!

I got back home and sorted through what was sold.. so much more to put online! Where did it come from?! Updates soonish...

Running has been slow to progress. hi, I am lazy! And busy! once a week does not make a runner. I ran 2.5 miles today, walked a mile at work. I hope to get the the UMD track thursday, but it'll be after a big presentation so maybe drinks would be in better order? ;) goal is to run 2-3 times a week though - not the 1 time it's been the past 3 weeks!!

Sorry for the late reminder, but we just got us some internets! Woo hoo!
Here are more details:
Rania,
Jessee and
Caitlin will be there too.. Come out and say hi!!
Her Majesty
The Queen visited my work today! We went out and waited to see her, and admired the quantities of secret service guys. She spoke to a guy a couple feet away from me, seeing what he did. She was great. I love the lime green!

Heather
Pixiestikz was apparently standing like 20 feet from me, but in the front row... (this is totally her awesome photo, so go to her blog and admire her great foto-skilz!) my view was blocked by two heads, and my camera cord is at home!
telecom complaints, part two.
Dear Verizon,
You suck. I did not buy your ridiculous $2 a month wiring service plan, because I assumed that wiring is... you know... standard? That since the sellers had phone, that ours would also work?
I imagine that you purposely switched up the wiring in an effort to confuse us into paying a whopping $200 to have your dude come out and switch the wires for us. Four simple wires.
This doesn't surprise me, as I hear more and more tales of your crazy money-grabbing antics. Purposely (one can only assume) screwing up installations? Purposely crossing lines?
However, being two smart engineer types, we will win. We will wire our own damn jacks and will NOT be sitting at home from 8 AM to 5 PM two flipping weeks from now.
Wishing we could afford cable instead of this,
Woolarina.
Real posts to start again once we have.. internets? I so hope DSL works!
See you tomorrow at Sheep and Wool, whoever is coming!! I will be there in a brown Crafty Bastards T-Shirt!! Please please stop me and say Hi!! I am generally oblivious to the world when I'm in a crowd, and also am half blind... I hope I recognize y'all too!!
OH! Coupon for Morehouse here: http://www.morehousefarm.com/events/Maryland/SheepFestival/
settling in!
So we made it to the flip side! We moved in to our condo over the weekend... so much cleaning and shuffling and cleaning some more! We are thrilled mostly! There are a few minor things cropping up, but that's just part of being homeowners I think.
They spent the weekend filling the ginormous pool out back - we have a perfect view! I can't wait for it to open!
Phone service is hopefully arriving today, along with DSL we are hoping. (Please?!) We had a heck of a time getting it... I will just say that Earthlink bites. There's totally a reason it's $15 less than the competition (Verizon)... I got to the point with customer service people that I just could. not. deal. So I stopped it. Anyhow, they couldn't seem to find a DSL signal or something, in spite of the previous owners HAVING EARTHLINK DSL. ??? I was boggled. And confused when they tried to keep me buy upselling me to direct TV. ??? Yeah, I bet *that* would work if you can't seem to find our phone or DSL stuff... Whatever. I hope Verizon is competent in setting it up at least. I didn't buy a single one of their multiple "insurance" policies. Really- they will insure the phone line in your house! ??? The one that costs like $1 to buy? Wha?
I have a feeling I will miss my beloved RCN. They were expensive, but awesome. Fast customer service, no crazy accents, no odd pauses and constant questioning. I so wish they offered cable modems at the new place. I would gladly forego an evening out a month to keep them at this point!
oh! Running! I ran last Tuesday's track workout - 2 miles (including warmup/cool down) and this week I ran 2.5 I think. No idea how long it was (watch was misplaced in the move..) but man it felt so good! Run run run! I am so happy that it is easier this time around. Like my legs remember running! I hope to join my other running club at the university track thursday after work since I'll probably be missing out on the next couple weekends of long runs.
Anyhow, who's going to Maryland Sheep and Wool?!? I don't so much need wool, in any shape or form, but I'm shopping for some equipment and for other people. Should be FUN!
