Woolarina
crafty highlights!
Do you have a shopping list for crafty? I totally do this time around. I know if I don't, I'll get overwhelmed at the crowds and give up! I always make this mistake! Here is what I want to get my hands on this year!
From
Fort Cloudy - I love her designs! There are also many babies in my life right now to buy gifties for, so woot!

Ditto for
Lemon Cadet. I got a onesie at Art Star for a friend! They rock!

I'm intrigued by
Giant Dwarf's colors and styles. I think I need a plush or sweet cap! There'll be a baby to fit it someday, right?!
I know I have enough yarn and fiber to last me forever, but I just don't spin the same way
In Hope does.. I totally want some of her stuff to knit into a fun scarf!

And this is really on my wish list.. if I have enough money and all. I love these bags from
Pear Handmade! They look perfect!

And from my shop? I think this about sums it up.

Spin your own yarn! I love these. I think I have spun more on spindles than on my wheel the past few months! Tomorrow I will have plastic spindles and wooden spindles!
DCist!
Woolarina is on DCist! Haha.. I hope I don't sound like a big dork! ;)
roving! fun! coupon!
Crafty Bastards is Sunday SUNDAY sunday. Woot!!! Are *YOU* coming?! I hope to have a post about what I am shopping for tonight or tomorrow either here or at
Craft Mutiny.
These came in the mail the other day. I am loving drop spindling again. Again! These will be sold Sunday with roving as kits. 4+ oz. roving and the wooden spindle for $25. Or 2+ oz. roving a less purty but more adaptable plastic+wooden spindle for $16.

Do you want to learn to spin? Here's a coupon for the kits you can buy at crafty bastards! $14 for the cheaper set-up or $21 for the swankier kits! Also, I'm offering $2 off of one sock yarn and $3 off of one handspun with
these coupons! (Note: only good for woolarina yarn - we will hopefully have a special guest as well!! :)
Here is a boatload of merino that I just labeled. This, as well as a lot of BFL and some superwash merino will be at Crafty Bastards! SUNDAY!!

(spindle + merino isn't part of the review, but keep your eyes peeled, as I'll have coupons later this week for the spindle kits!)
welcome to the world, fnm!

(nephew #2!)
knitty pals!
We had not one but TWO fun special guests at knitting this week! Yay for work trips to DC! :)
Chelsea and
Amy came back to see us! We had a record number of people this week too.. yay mayorga! Boo for me only remembering to get my camera out after two people left! Bah! Also boo to the foto skilz of coffee shop dude... that's some framing there.

Thursday was the real fun though.. we decided to join the masses and see the Yarn Harlot in Bailey's Crossroad. So glad we went! We were there for 5 hours between getting there early enough to get a seat and getting our books signed. I was delirious with hunger by the end of it - I imagine the
snargle-mom-to-be was wiped! And there were still loads of people waiting downstairs when we left! Wow.
too delicious not to share.
I got all fancy with my sweetie's birthday cake last month!

It's a
Mary Ann Cake, using the recipe from
here. I used farm market peaches and raspberries, and it was perfect! :) Really, you can't go wrong with fresh homemade whipped cream.
And some fun shots of something I made for our nephew's birthday...

digging out
I am starting a new job monday, and between work and crafty bastards prep, I am beat. I took half the day off today to try and collect myself, but where to start?!
Just this afternoon, I have:
- ordered t-shirts (will people buy woolarina sheep shirts? they are cute!!)
- received postcards + magnet order #1 - more coming, along with more business cards
- made coupons to go along with orders and purchases at
Crafty Bastards- packaged iron-on patches
I still need to:
- print up loads of things - cards, shirts, dolls?
- dye about a zillion pounds of merino without felting it
- wind up 10 pounds of sock yarn into skeins, dye, reskein, label
- print/stuff/sew sachets
- get spin kits together
- finish a new sign
Aiaiai! ;)
here are the patches before being cut up!
