recycle!
haha... yeah, so I think everyone I tagged had already finished with the fun! I am late I think! ah well. You'd think I'd remember seeing these, as I do read blogs and all, but.. no! hah!
We are reorganizing a room in preparation for painting (and also, unpacking... still...) and I found even more yarn to use (before I buy more). UGh. Where did I get all this?! I wonder if I will ever finish using it all! I better remember this little stash the next time there's a stash party! I won't miss any of it!
Yesterday I went to Office Depot to recycle my ink cartridges. Did you know you could recycle them? I remember seeing boxes some places (not office depot, I think) but yes! They do! Also, they GIVE YOU MONEY for them! :) I got $9 for three cartridges. Plus a sweet coupon (for if I ever shopped at office depot?)
Oh! this is from their
website:
Office Depot sells a wide range of remanufactured toner cartridges and also operates a national program to collect used laser and inkjet cartridges for remanufacture. Each cartridge reclaimed is one that does not wind up in a landfill, and each conserves, on average, the equivalent of half a gallon of oil compared to manufacturing one from scratch. So don’t throw that empty cartridge away…bring it to your local Office Depot when you stop by to purchase your replacement. Click here to find a store near you.
Interesting! And it gets you $3! :)
tagged...
Lara tagged me!
Rules:
Once tagged, you must link to the person who tagged you. Then post the rules before your list, and list 8 random things about yourself. At the end of the post, you must tag and link to 8 other people, visit their sites, and leave a comment letting them know they’ve been tagged.
8 things? Hmmm...
1. I am boggled when I meet people that don't drive. I mean, how?! Why?! I don't love traffic but I love to drive.
2. I have a crazy fear of riding in cars that other people are driving. Seriously, I get so anxious that *this is it.. this is how I will die!*... knitting helps this a bit. Hello, I am crazy.
3. When I find books that are good, or even mostly good, I go and read every other book that author has written. A couple years ago it was Murakami, then T.C. Boyle, then now it's John Updike. John Updike is a little creepy. Actually, all of them are creepy. I do read better stuff, I swear.
4. I have also been doing this with a German author - Dorris Doerrie. The books are harder to get though, unless I want to pay shipping from Germany. These are the girliest books I've ever read, and I think my husband's friend made fun of me when I made him bring me one from Germany last time.
5. I lived in Germany for 6 months, working at an engineering firm after I graduated college. I had no tv, so I read a lot. And also made friends with an American working for the army in Heidelberg. This was totally lame of me - but they had cheap(er) groceries at the PX on base.
6. I should have obtained a German degree from this, but I was pretty disillusioned, and didn't turn in my journal or the paper I wrote, so didn't get the degree. To this day, not a single person from the German department questioned it.
7. My clarinet teacher in middle school and high school hated that I only read crap like Stephen King and made me read several "literature" sorts of books. He would be happy to know that I read proper books now!
8. My yarn stash (including what is for sale and ready to dye) is smaller than many people's I've seen online. My husband should feel lucky, but I don't think he does! ;)
I am not really so literate as this makes me look.. but I love to read. Ask me what happened in a book a month later, though, or what it means, and I will draw a blank! I sucked at high school english! ;)
So.. I tag:
Amy,
K8,
Acornbuds,
Javajem,
Laura, and... aw heck, I think everyone else has already done this silly post!
published!
When we got married, my husband teased that *he* couldn't change *his* name because he was published in academia. That for his career, he'd always have to have his name.

Well... shoot. I appear to have gotten published with my maiden name! Heh. If only it were easier to go about changing ones name... I am coming up on month 9 of newlastname and *still* deal with my old name at least biweekly! grrr!
this is from the
Stitch 'N Bitch Page-A-Day Calendar 2008! Woot!
an army of cute
the legions are coming!

Kate's sister made a frickin' cute army of bunnies. We are trying to figure out what to do with them!
In the meantime,
the shop is mostly updated from Crafty Bastards. I am missing some yarn somewhere, but can't find it! Ah well.
stitch pattern?
a friend would love to have a hat like this, but in different colors...
http://www.coach.com/content/product.aspx?product_no=10230&category_id=164any idea what sort of stitch pattern this is? it looks sort of like cables, but not quite.
**update**
thanks for the suggestions!
Okay, so swatching like crazy a few days ago... I think this is a simple cable pattern. Over four stitches... [twist the first two left, twist the second two right]. knit two rows (in the round) [twist the first two RIGHT, twist the second two LEFT]. knit two rows. Repeat.
It's a nice pattern, and not annoying enough to need a cable needle! I'll post photos of it (or what I think it is!) when I can..
where to start?!
Crafty Bastards was rad. So nice to see fans of yarn + knitting! And so many people stopped by - friends and also people that have come the last two or three years! They remember me or our stuff, and that we had catnip toys the very first crafty and haven't had really much since... they buy my hats year after year and delight in the crazy colored roving that I adore. They buy yarn even though they haven't knit what they got last year. They
get crafty! ;)

I totally don't remember everyone who came, and probably had a blank/dazed look on my face when you stopped by... but thanks so much to
Rossana, Leigh,
Lolly,
JavaJem,
Jolene,
Kelly,
allison,
jstrizzy, Sarah K, and everyone else who I have totally blanked on! A humongous thanks to
snargle sarah (
and her lovely roving!) who helped me tremendously all day! Thanks also to K8, who had a 2 hour trek from baltimore and then another trek to BWI afterwards, all with no food! She brought me some superawesome goodies that will be part of another post.

I am still recovering and trying to figure out what I sold! 5 weeks until
the next craft fair. OY!
a crafty thanks!
Thanks SO much to everyone who came out Sunday! It was one of those days where I felt like what I am doing is so worthwhile even if it gets stressful once in a while because it makes people so happy! The colors! The soft! People GET IT! :)
I'll try to give a more coherent recap, with pictures, this evening, but... thanks! Really, thanks! I was blown away by everyone! :)
